Ind Sa, “Batting first was a wrong decision”, Former Pak Cricketer on India batting first in 2nd test at Wanderers

Pakistani Cricketer Danish Kaneria while speaking on his Youtube Channel, has said that the decision to bat first on a tricky first was a wrong decision by K L Rahul. Rahul was captaining the Indian side after it emerged during the toss time that Kohli is battling from an upper back spasm. Hanuma Vihari is brought in as a replacement. According to Kaneria, scoring runs on a difficult wicket at Centurion after winning the toss may have influenced K L Rahul to opt for batting on Wanderer’s pitch too.

India started out good with almost 32 for no loss but then lost their way by losing wickets at regular intervals. Rahane and Pujara went cheaply and India somehow reached 202 runs with contributions from R. Ashwin, who scored a vital 46 runs from just 50 balls. India in reply took a wicket before the stumps on Day 1 and SA have made 35 runs in 18 overs.

India also has some concerns with Mohammad Siraj who seemed to have pulled his hamstring. R.Ashwin provided an update on him and is confident that the bowler will be able to bowl tomorrow.

Duanne Ollivier, although a medium-pacer did a lot of damage by picking up Rahane, Pujara, and Shardul Thakur. He along with Kagiso Rabada were the pick of the bowlers and they shared 6 wickets between them while Marco Jansen bowled impressively and picked up four wickets.

There are weather reports of showers in this match. If that would be the case, then the pitch would offer more assistance to the Indian bowlers, who went past the South African bats many times in the 18 overs they bowled on Day 1.

South Africa is the final frontier for Team India as they have never won the test series there. The tourists have already got a 1 – 0 lead and a victory at Wanderers, where they have never lost a game till now, will ensure a test series win for Team India.
