Chennai Super Kings had a disastrous start to their IPL campaign this year. While the team looks strong and balanced on the paper, they have been unable to play to their reputation. Now, Brad Hogg, the former cricketer and analyst has given his prediction about CSK.
Based on the current performance, Hogg believes that CSK may not be able to qualify this year. The defending champions have not been up to par in all batting, bowling, and fielding, as acknowledged by their coach Stephen Fleming and have a herculean task in front if they want to make it to the playoffs.
I can’t see CSK in the top four this year. I think when they go to the auction next year, they’re going to have to re-establish themselves, reset and look at different options in the bowling and batting department. But don’t write them off just yet. We all know CSK always find the recipe to turn things around.” Brad Hogg said on his Youtube channel.
Will be difficult for CSK to turn around things, feels Hogg
CSK received a jolt just days before the start of the IPL when Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced that he will not be captaining the side. The reins were handed over to Ravindra Jadeja who has come under the fire from critics for CSK’s worst start in IPL.
As bad as CSK seems right now, writing them off would be a huge mistake for any franchise as they have a tendency to bounce back very strongly. Dhoni may not be the official captain anymore but there is no doubt that he is still in charge of calling the shots. Their next match is against Du Plessis’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. The side has been in red hot form till now by winning 3 of their first 4 matches.
