Australia had a dream run for the last 4 months. After the home series humiliation against India in early 2021, followed by series loss against Bangladesh in Bangladesh later that year, they were able to put their best in T20 World cup and won it for the first time. They carried the momentum into the Ashes and defeated England by 4 – 0.

Justin Langer contract is coming to an end in a few months and backdoor negotiations have begun. There were rumors early on that Cricket Australia is also looking for other credible people to coach the Australian side. Now former Australian cricketer Darren Berry has opined that Justin Langer is the best choice and that his accomplishments in the recent time cannot be overlooked.

Speaking to SEN Dwayne’s World, the former batsman was asked if Langer will be coaching the Australian team this time next year, he replied, “If it was my decision it’s no question.”

After suffering an unexpected defeat from India, there was news about some players not sharing a great camaraderie with the Langer. The news stated that the Langer’s micro-management style didn’t go well down with the players. But looking at the results that Australia have achieved recently, it is likely that the players and coach found a way to work together.

Langer was brought in as a coach in 2018 after the sandpaper scandal. “He’s hard, he’s tough. The reason why we got him in there is now the reason they’re saying they want him out. Give me a break.” said Darren Berry.
