SA were on 60 for 2 when Ashwin got Elgar out which appeared plumb in front. However, much to the surprise of everyone, the DRS showed that the ball would have gone over the stumps and the SA captain got a reprieve. Reacting to the situation, Kohli, K L Rahul, and Ashwin uttered a few lines which many Gautam Gambhir and Daryl Cullinan has slammed.
Reacting to Kohli’s outburst of “Focus on your team as well when they shine the ball eh, not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time.”, Gambhir said that it is not something that a captain should have done at the international stage. “This is not what you expect from an international captain, from an Indian captain,” said Gambhir to Start Sports Network. K L Rahul said “It’s the whole country against 11 guys” whereas Ashwin said, “You should find better ways to win, SuperSport.”
The DRS replay conclusion was unexpected even for the likes of experienced on-field umpire Marais Erasmus who uttered “Its impossible” after seeing the ball going over the stumps. The Indian camp was obviously not happy with the DRS technology and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey said later in the press conference that “We saw it, you saw it. I will leave it to the match referee to have a look at it“
In both the second and third test matches, we have witnessed batting collapses from both teams and a wicket of Dean Elgar at that time could have shifted the momentum in India’s favor. While Elgar got out when SA was near 100, the team eventually chased the target of 212 runs on the fourth day and did so with seven wickets in hand. Rishabh Pant played a courageous inning of 100 including six fours and 4 sixes and remained not out while others were unable to provide him the support at the other end.
Rest of the cricket world just bows down to Virat. The powerhouse is India – Daryll Cullinan
Former SA cricketer, Daryl Cullinan wasn’t happy about Kohli and co. outburst for the DRS review which went against them. Cullinan said that Kohli behaves the way he wants to and that a player of his caliber is untouchable and also pointed out that such behavior coming from India will not evoke any punishments as India are the powerhouse of Cricket. “This is the typical Virat’s untouchable, he behaves the way he wants to behave. The rest of the cricket world just bows down to Virat. The powerhouse is India. I hate to say this but it’s been going on for years,”
