In a sad news that has gripped the nation of India, Lata Mangeshkar has departed to the heavens on 6th February after a long battle with Covid 19 and pneumonia. The singer was 92 years of age and had been in hospital for nearly 2 weeks. Also known as the Nightingale of India, the Bharat-Ratna awardee in 2001 sung over 30000 songs in nearly 36 different languages in her career spanning over nearly seven decades.

Lata Mangeshkar’s fans weren’t limited to India but she was greatly applauded by the neighboring country Pakistan. Shoaib Akhtar, while speaking on his You tube Channel recalls the time when the speedster had a telephonic conversation with the late singer.

“I had the honor speaking to her (Lata ji) on the phone. She insisted that I call her ‘Maa ji’ instead of Lata ji. Lata ji said that she has seen many matches of mine and Shoaib Akhtar and that I was very aggressive. She further said my anger on the field was famous. And that I speak really good Urdu.”

Shoaib was recalling the telephonic conversation he had with the legendary singer in 2016 when he was in India for work.

“She asked me whether I had quit the cricket, to which I said yes. She replied ‘Thank God you left the game and the batsmen are now safe’. Everyone burst into laughter hearing her response as the phone was on microphone”. Shoaib revealed on his YouTube channel.
