Hardik Pandya to be the captain of the Ahmedabad franchise – Sources

If reports are to be believed then Hardik Pandya will be appointed as the captain of the Ahmedabad franchise. The news has been trending on Twitter. Not only that but the Ahmedabad franchise is likely to bring Rashid Khan too. Khan played for the Sunrishers Hyderabad but decided to go into the IPL auction. Ashish Nehra has already been appointed as the coach by the franchise. Hardik Pandya has played phenomenally well for Mumbai Indians over the years but the franchise decided to go with Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah, and Surya Kumar Yadav as retentions. The IPL Mega auction is likely to be conducted in the second week of February and eye-balls will be there on many big players such as the likes of Hardik Pandya, David Warner, and Rashid Khan.

There were earlier reports that the franchise would make Shreyas Iyer the captain. Iyer captained the Delhi Daredevils but missed the latter part of last year’s IPL due to a shoulder injury. Rishabh Pant was then appointed as the captain. Daredevils retained Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, and Anrich Nortje.

Fans are debating on Twitter that Hardik Pandya fitness concerns could be a captain if he is appointed as the captain of the franchise. The all-rounder did not bowl in the all-important games against Pakistan and New Zealand.
