In the second test match, South Africa defied the odds and went on to chase 240 runs by losing only three wickets. The likes of Bumrah and Shami bowled relentlessly and went past the bats too on many occasions. However, the luck wasn’t with the tourists and now that the series is squared 1 – 1, both teams will give their all in the decider at Newlands, Capetown.
Tempers flared up during the match when Jasprit Bumrah was being bowled bouncers by Marco Jansen. Bumrah and the bowler gave few words to each other. The Indian bowler ultimately pulled off a bouncer of Rabada which went to six. During the South Africa chase, when Hanuma Vihari got hit in the arms at short square leg by sweep shot of Temba Bavuma. Bumrah could be heard giving a stern warning for South Africa through the stump’s microphone.
“Mein Janbhujkar stump mic ke pass aya hun. Dekhte hain abhi next match baaki hai. Jitna abhi uchalna hai ucchal sakte hain.Ek aur match hai. Bahut baaki hai thakur.”
In English “I have come towards stumps mic deliberately. There is one more test match remaining. Let them enjoy for a while. There is decider at Newlands. There is lot left in the series Thakur.”
Dean Elgar and Keegan Peterson batted the Indian pace battery well in the second test match. However, at Newlands Capetown, a former South African pacer Fani De Villiers has warned that the conditions will suit Indian bowlers as they have a lot of variation in their attack and that India is likely to win the test match and the series.
Ishant Sharma is expected to come into the side in place of injured Mohammad Siraj whereas Virat Kohli will be back in the side after recovering from his upper back spasm. He is likely to come in place of Hanuma Vihari.
