Gavin Dovey, who allegedly enjoyed a great working relationship with Langer has parted ways with Cricket Australia. Dovey was the team manager and worked under three coaches namely Mickey Arthur, Darren Lehmann and Justin Langer. Whether he was resigned on his own wishes or was forced to resign with short-term contractual arrangement as in the of Justin Langer, cannot be said. It is however believed that he enjoyed a mixed relationship with the players.

Gavin is a high quality person and has done an outstanding job over the past 11 years in what has been a very complex and demanding role,” CA head of team performance Ben Oliver said.

“He felt now is the right time for the team, his family and himself personally as he pursues new opportunities, and we respect his decision. We are indebted to Gavin and his family and wish them the very best for the future.”

Dovey interestingly had a rugby background before he was onboarded from the post of operation manager of the England’s rugby team.

Gavin was allegedly involved in a heated exchange with the official of cricket.com.au website after Bangladeshi’s celebration video were posted on the website when they defeated Australia in their home series last year.

The decision to retire comes at an interesting time especially when Australia is all set to tour Pakistan after 24 years. Langer recently was forced to resign after he was offered a short-term contract.
