India team’s reaction towards the DRS review has become a hot topic recently. It would not be wrong to say that Virat Kohli was livid when he saw the ball missing the stumps in the DRS review. The surprised on-field umpire Marais Erasmus had no choice other than to overturn his decision and give it not out to Dean Elgar. South Africa were 60 for one at that point and a wicket of their captain could have triggered a batting collapse on a pitch that was conducive to fast bowling.
Kohli, Ashwin, and K L Rahul uttered a few lines that were directed at the broadcaster. Now Shahid Afridi has given his opinion on the incident and said that Kohli and co. shouldn’t have reacted in the manner which saw them going berserk when the DRS showed the ball going over the stumps. Ashwin even went on to say near the microphone that the broadcaster Supersport should find better ways to win.
Shahid while speaking to Samaa TV, agreed that the technology DRS is not 100% correct and that the decision should not be 100% relied on it. He recalled an incident of the 2011 India Pakistan semi-final when Sachin was given out lbw by Saeed Ajmal, however, the DRS review showed the ball missing the leg stumps and the decision was eventually overturned. India went on to win that match and eventually the World Cup trophy.
When asked about his opinion on the DRS outburst in the press conference, Kohli said that he does not want to comment on the matter and create a controversy.
