‘Made Zero Sense’ : Alex Hales on England cancelling Pak tour

Alex Hales is currently taking part in the PSL seven for Islamabad United team. Speaking to Geo Tv, the dashing English cricketer talked about last year when England skipped the Pakistan tour citing security reasons.

It was New Zealand who decided to cancel the tour just hours before the 1st ODI in Rawalpindi. Soon after that, England too confirmed that they will not be touring Pakistan.

Hales who has been playing in the PSL for the last five years believes that England should have arrived on the Pakistani shores as it was Pakistan who helped the ECB by touring England when they desperately needed it.

“I think after Pakistan came to England during COVID, helped out the ECB massively, so for them to cancel that tour made zero sense to me whatsoever,” he said.

Hales is one of the 24 England players who are taking part in this years PSL. The opening batsman was very much in England’s plan a couple of years ago but has been left out since the 2019 World Cup as the batsman was caught in the recreational drug usage.

Hales believes that the quality of cricket is right up there with IPL and BBL and that the players are very well looked after by the security teams.

“The standard of cricket is really good, especially as a batter coming here. The standard of fast bowling is as good as anywhere in the world. It’s certainly up there in terms of the world tournaments, I’d rank it right up there, close to the IPL and certainly alongside the Big Bash,” he said.
