Ever since Chennai retained Dhoni at the no.2 position, there were speculations that he may not lead Chennai Super Kings from the next season. However, a news post by Xtra Time suggests that MS Dhoni is likely to lead the Chennai Super Kings side in IPL 2022. Dhoni was retained by the franchise at no.2 position for Rs 12 crore whereas Ravindra Jadeja was the no.1 retention player for Rs 16 crore.

Earlier, Dhoni stated in a meeting that he want to play his last match of IPL in front of Chennai but does not know whether it is next year or in five years’ time”. This year IPL will be hosted in Mumbai and Pune due to Covid regulations.
