Wriddhiman Saha revealed a private chat between him and the BCCI supremo Sourav Ganguly, where he was told to not worry about losing his place after his 61 knock against New Zealand in the first test match at Kanpur. The batsman-wicketkeeper also said that he was baffled that how come the promise suddenly changed after one month.
Now Snehashish Ganguly, Sourav Ganguly’s elder brother has taken a dig at Saha for revealing a private conversation between the two individuals in the public domain.
“What was communicated to him (Saha) was private. He probably shouldn’t have gone public with that. Also, he could have played the Ranji Trophy. He cited personal reasons for pulling out and we have to respect that.” said Snehashish to the Indian Express.
“After scoring 61 against New Zealand at Kanpur, Dadi (Ganguly) congratulated me over WhatsApp and mentioned, ‘As long as I’m here (helming the BCCI), you would be in the team’. Such a message from the BCCI president really boosted my confidence. What I’m struggling to understand is how things have changed so fast,” As told to Indian Express by the wicket-keeper batsman.
Snehashish Ganguly, who is also the CAB secretary said that the doors are still open for Saha to make a comeback into the Ranji Team.
“The door is always open for him, whenever he wants to join the squad,” said Snehashish.
Saha decided to opt-out of the Ranji Trophy this year after he revealed about the selector’s future plans of not considering him for Team India. The keeper however said it was because of his wife’s dengue problem that he decided to opt-out of this year’s Ranji Trophy. The player also revealed that Dravid indirectly suggested him to ‘retire’. The keeper is also in the news for sharing a screenshot of angry messages being sent to him by a journalist who Saha believes is a ‘respected journalist’.
