As strange as it may sound, no team went into bidding for Shakib-Al-Hasan, who has given some memorable performances in the IPL. His base price was set to INR 2 Crores and went unsold along with 12 other players who had similar base price. Shakib has played 71 games so far and has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, during which he picked up 69 wickets. Eyebrows were raised when no team showed interest in buying him and now the cricketer’s wife has revealed why he went unsold in the auction.
According to the cricketer’s wife, Shakib was contacted by multiple franchises before the auction and was asked for his availability throughout the whole season, to which he wasn’t able to agree, which is why the franchises did not went for him in the IPL Auction.
The Sri Lankan team is set to tour Bangladesh in May 2022 for two test matches which is probably why Shakib-Al Hasan did not nodded with the franchises for the full IPL season. The IPL is slated to start from the 1st week of April. The no. of matches have increased due to the addition of two new teams. The tournament will continue for two months.
