It is not everyday that two legends of the game wish each other on social media. Yuvraj Singh recently gifted a pair of Puma boots to Virat Kohli and called him a ‘legendary captain’ and ‘fantastic leader’ and said that he will always know him by ‘Cheeku’ (Kohli’s pet name). Kohli in return gave a heartfelt response and it will certainly win your heart.
“…..Coming from someone who’s seen my career unfold from day 1, it means a lot. Your life and your comeback from cancer was, is and will always be an inspiration for people in all walks of life not just cricket…..” Kohli responded.
It was in 2011 when Yuvraj Singh cancer was detected. Upon detection, it came to conclusion that the southpaw played with the disease throughout the World cup. Against the West Indies, the player was even spotted coughing out blood but carried on to play the innings and scored a fighting 113. Yuvraj was adjudged as the man of the series and Kohli too played some great knocks for the team in the 2011 World Cup.
In interviews later on, Yuvraj Singh revealed that he used to have dreams during the World cup and would request the Almighty to give him the 2011 World Cup even if the wish is granted at the cost of his life. Yuvraj Singh not only won over the disease but even returned to cricket and played some memorable knocks after that. He eventually retired from all forms of international cricket in 2019.
Yuvraj Singh had a tough upbringing from his father Yograj Singh and the star player overcame many hurdles to get selected in the Indian team.
In a show, Virat Kohli had recounted a hilarious incidence about Yuvraj Singh and said that the senior player always had the habit of pulling his legs. Watch that funny incident about Yuvraj Singh and Kohli at the 8.18 mark in the below video.
