“Was a great feeling”: Shaheen Afridi on Pakistan beating India in T20 World Cup

Before arriving into the match against Pakistan, India was being hailed as the top contender for winning the T20 World Cup. Past history shows that India always had the upper hand against Pakistan in the World Cup events. But history was created on 24th October when Pakistan defeated India for the first time.

Speaking to Samaa TV, Shaheen Shah Afridi recalled the time when he got the important wickets of Rohit Sharma, K L Rahul, and Virat Kohli. His initial burst of swing bowling meant that India was never able to recover and put up a sub-par score of 151 runs which Pakistan chased comfortably without losing any wicket.

“Honestly, the attitude of most of the players was that to give an incredible performance that will stay in the memories of people that we defeated India in the World Cup. It is difficult for youngsters to give such performances”

Shaheen bowled an inswinging full-length delivery to Sharma to get him LBW whereas a similar kind of back-of-length delivery got K L Rahul bowled. Virat Kohli played a leading from the front knock of 57 runs from 49 balls and even smashed a straight six to Afridi. In the pursuit of quick scoring in the final overs, Kohli eventually got out by giving a catch to keeper Rizwan of the bowling of Shaheen.
